Students across the country have traded in their pencils, test booklet, and bubble sheets in order to participate in an online pilot system consisting of English and math assessments tied to the Common Core State Standards. Students participating in this pilot, use laptops to take various online assessments, consisting of multiple choice, short answers, and writing responses, to help evaluate their readiness for state testing. The purpose the pilot is to help give both teachers and students a better understanding of what the Common Core State Standards are and to help teachers have a better understanding of what they need to do in order to prepare students for the state tests.
