Verizon opens its 3rd App Challenge

The Verizon Foundation in partnership with the Technology Student Association, is seeking entries for the annual Verizon Innovative App Challenge. The competition, now in its third year, looks for middle school and high school students to create concepts for mobile apps that could solve problems in their schools and communities. The winning teams in the past two competitions received cash grants totaling $340,000.

Lights On Afterschool Partnership Minigrants: The Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) and the Afterschool Alliance are pleased to announce the Noyce foundation-funded Lights On Afterschool Partnership Minigrant. Twenty ASTC-member museums, along with their afterschool partners, will be selected to receive a $1,500 minigrant to develop and host a STEM-related event for the 2014 Lights On Afterschool celebration.

2nd Annual CA STEM Symposium Request for Presentations

The second annual CA STEM Symposium will take place on September 22nd and 23rd, 2014.  Proposals are now being accepted for workshop presentations.  This year’s Symposium will feature a variety of focused strands including: STEM Integrated Science, STEM Integrated Technology, STEM Integrated Engineering, STEM Integrated Math, Women and Girls in STEM, Diversity, Equity, and Opportunity in STEM, Expanded STEM Learning, Partnerships, Policy, Leadership, and Research in STEM.
