STEM Mentors Aim to Reverse Low Diversity Trend in Tech Fields

A recent report released by Google reveals starkingly low levels of diversity in tech fields with regards to women and minorities. Specifically, only 17% of the field is represented by women and less than 3% is represented by minority groups. It is evident that there is a large gender and ethnic bias, and in an effort to reverse this trend, the Million Women Mentors program trains girls and young women to enhance their STEM knowledge and enhance their interests in the field. This program, facilitated by Cisco, is currently underway and picking up momentum to work towards increasing equality in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.
