$240,000 to support innovative classroom projects

Over the last 15 years, ING Unsung Heros has given nearly $3.5 million in grants to educators through its "Unsung Hereos" program, which supports the iuse of new methods and techniques to improve learning. Each year, 100 educators in grades k-12 are selected to recieve an additional $5,000 , $10,00 or $25,000. last year's top grant wine, Rebecca brewer of Troy High School in Troy, Mich., won for her project "Mini-med School: Simulating Surgeries." The project was designed to move 11th aand 12th grade biology students from simply dissecting specimens to performing mock Surgical procedres on the specimans' organs.
