Duncan Calls for Higher Standards and Expectations Following PISA Results

 

Every three years, thousands of students take the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) to assess educational standards around the world. Though the United States has seen improvements in high school drop out rate and college enrollment rates, especially among minority students, we still trail behind the world’s top students. Education Secretary, Arne Duncan, believes that we must “increase social mobility and strengthen the middle class is through high-quality education,” in order to catch up to the world’s best education systems.
