The Month of Engineering

February is the month of engineering!

Explore engineering topics & incorporate it into your STEM plan:

·      Engineering Adventures (EA)

o   Engineering Adventures provides a curriculum for 3rd through 5th graders in out-of-school time settings created by the Boston Museum of Science. EiE's afterschool curriculum Engineering Adventures (EA) features a fictional brother-sister duo who guide kids on engineering adventures around the world. Each EA unit presents a real problem and challenges kids to engineer a solution.  There are currently units available for free download. For more information, click here. Also, access Engineering Adventures free 3rd - 5th grade curriculum here.

·      DiscoverE.org

o   There are a great number of resources you can utilize for spearheading engineering in your STEM plan, such as free volunteer engineering kits at DiscoverE.org.

·      DiscoverE.org – Girl Day

o   Girl Day is a movement that shows girls how creative & collaborative engineering is & how engineers are changing our world. With hundreds of events happening each year, together we are driving the conversation about girls & engineering.

·      DiscoverE.org – Global Marathon

o   The Global Marathon provides global and regional opportunities for women and provides a place to put forward ideas, solve common problems and come together. Designed to be an interactive event, the Global Marathon encourages women to engage and ask questions through live Internet chat, webcasts and phone calls. Join us in a live worldwide forum on topics for, by, and about current and future generations of women in engineering and technology.

·      DiscoverE.org – Family Day

o   The annual Discover Engineering Family Day is enjoyed by over six thousand visitors to the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. every February. The festival features dozens of hands-on activities provided by local engineering chapters and national organizations. Every year at the start of Engineers Week, the impressive main hall of the National Building Museum is taken over by thousands of children of all ages experiencing the excitement of engineering. Family Day 2015 will take place on February 28.
