Welcoming All Girls in the Maker Faire Movement: Let's Make It Happen

This article shines light upon a prominent STEM issue, the lack of underrepresented minority girls in afterschool programs, & highlights Techbridge girls. Techbridge girls brought their projects they created in their afterschool program in Oakland Technical High School to Maker Faire in San Mateo, CA. “They learned to code, worked with tools, practiced teamwork, and persevered through many cycles of the design process. The girls' imaginations led them to an array of projects: a jacket that unzips when it gets too hot, a dress that lights up, and a robot bobs its head to the beat.”
