Lunar Space Project

This spring, through the Greater Cincinnati STEM Collaborative, iSPACE will immerse over 900 5th grade students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) in their usual fun and unique iSPACE way. In the Lunar Base Project, funded by Procter & Gamble through the Strive Partnership and KnoweldgeWorks, students from Fairfield Intermediate, Hyde Park Elementary, and Mt. Healthy North Elementary will participate in standards-based activities that use cooperative learning skills to design a habitable, self-sustaining lunar research base and investigate the concepts of force and motion using rocketry. They discover the critical role light plays in space exploration and investigate properties of the electromagnetic spectrum. Also included in the project is a Professional Development workshop for all 5th grade teachers, iDISCOVER Family Event at the school and a culminating STEM Career Awareness event for students and parents hosted by iSPACE partner, Ethicon.
