Code Studio workshop (for teachers, grades K-5)

Taught by Code.org Affiliates who are experienced computer science educators, our free workshops will prepare you to teach the Code Studio courses for grades K-5.

Workshop details

Have you heard of "The Hour of Code?" How would you like to have full access to all online and offline activities and materials to use with your students? Well, this workshop will give you the entire curriculum and set of materials to do beyond one hour of coding. It is designed to bring computer science in the elementary school classroom through coding. This training is open to any and all K-5 teachers from the Greater Los Angeles area. Workshop will be in the Library. Make sure to bring your devices/laptops and your class roster as this workshop involves online activities to create your students' usernames and passwords, as well as to access the online curriculm. Coffee, water, and pastries/donuts will be provided from 7:30am-8am prior to the start of the workshop. For lunch, places as IHOP, Subway, Starbucks, Pollo Campero, McDonalds, Jamba Juice, Pizza Hut, WingStop, among others, are a couple of minutes away. If you prefer to bring lunch, a microwave and refrigerator are available across the library. Secured parking will be available on the northeast corner of Western Avenue and 54th St. Follow the signs to the library. Street parking will be available on 53rd St, directly in front of the Library Building and Auditorium. Signs will also be available. Additional notes: If your school or school district is able to host, and you have about 20 participants, please let me know at dbcaguioa@gmail.com and I will coordinate specifics with you. If you are unable to make it to this location, let me know where you are and I will bring the training to you, as long as there's 20 or more participants.
